Quakers, Minety

Quakers were active in the parish in 1662 and in the early 18th century. William Penn the Quaker may have lived or at least visited Minety. He was persecuted for his faith but was also associated with the royal family. William's father had been owed a debt from Charles I and William was given a large tract of land in America (to later become Pennsylvania). There were 16 Protestant nonconformists in 1676.
