Meetings originally held at the house of Elizabeth Clack resulted in the formation of a Baptist church; a chapel was built in 1806 on the east side of the common, and registered in 1809. In 1829 they had 43 members and ran a Sunday school from 1830. In 1871 they were registered for marriage. It contains a white marble mural tablet to William Blake, pastor. The chapel still serves the local Baptist community
