The 1676 census cites the number of 20 dissenters at South Newton. It is known that in the late 17th century there was a presence of Quakers in South Newton as part of a group of meetings centred on Fovant.
The house of George Blake in South Newton was registered for Presbyterian gatherings in January 1698.
In 1777 the house of Joseph Horn was registered as a meeting place of Independents and five women were cited in the registration of the house of Susan Randall for dissenting, but unspecified, worship in 1798.
In Chilhampton the house of Stephen Wootton was registered for worship in 1845; the persuasion of the worshippers was not recorded in the registration.
In North Ugford the house of a James Blake was registered for dissenting worship in 1843.
Information supplied at the Bishop's Visitation of 1864 indicates that in that year dissenters from Burden's Ball were attending worship in Wilton.
