Quakers, Lea & Cleverton

In 1662 a Quaker meeting was recorded, attended by seven parishioners and an unsigned license, dated 15th January, exists for several meeting houses, including one at Lea. A Friends' society for Lea and Brinkworth acquired a burial ground in 1691 situated west of the church and there were Quakers buried there until the 1750s. By 1883 it had become a garden.
