Early Chapels, Enford

There was a chapel at Compton at some time in the 12th century. It was probably taken over by St Swithun's, Winchester, at the end of the 13th century. This chapel is last referred to in 1395 when an altar celebrating St. Nicholas was put there.

Another chapel was found at Coombe in 1194. It had a chaplain. An altar dedicated to St Nicholas was consecrated at this chapel in 1395.

Fred Phillimore (1986) claims there were also chapels at Enford and Chisenbury.
