Only one person is recorded as a non-conformist in Enford in the year of 1676. Later, in 1710, a house was given for the use of non-conformists. It was not until the late 18th century where independent religious thought became more common that houses were registered for Independents in Compton in 1798 and at Fifield and Enford in 1897. The Victoria History of Wiltshire said: Independency flourished in the parish in the late 18th century and houses were registered by Independents at Compton in 1798 and at Fifield and Enford in 1797.
