A chapel for Independents was founded in 1761. In the mid 19th century the members of this chapel joined in with Baptists in the village; this carried on until 1865 when the old chapel was pulled down and a new one built in 1867. This building was considered rather smart and had three stained glass windows. There was a Sunday school room attached. In 1923 there were 32 children attending the Sunday school. In 1934 electric lights were installed. At the start of the 20th century the Baptist Chapel in the village fell into disrepair and the Baptists once again came to the Independent chapel to worship. In the later parts of the 20th century numbers attending this chapel fell and the chapel was eventually sold and converted into a private house.
