Independent Chapel, Great Wishford

A meeting house certificate was given on the 25th February 1817 to William Scamels of Great Wishford. The premises, said to be in West Street, were converted to a chapel in 1839 and the evening service there on Census Sunday in 1851 saw 22 people attend. What is presumably a variation of this surname Scamels is found on an Independent worship licence of 3 January 1839 granted to a house belonging to John Scamell. It does not seem likely that the chapel survived for many years.
