In 1911 a brewhouse dating from the 18th century at Ogbourne Maizey Manor, opposite Bonita stables and alongside the lane to Rockley, was converted by George Edwards, owner of the manor, to serve as a Roman Catholic chapel. The chapel functioned as a chapel of ease of St. Joseph's Church, Devizes, and from 1937 of the Catholic Church in Marlborough. The Ogbourne St. Andrew Women's Institute Scrapbook of 1965 describes the chapel's congregation as being 'mostly from those connected with the training stables, although quite a number of Catholics from Marlborough do come out to early Mass here'.
