Independent Methodists, Compton Bassett

In 1823 a house occupied by Henry Butler was licensed as a meeting house, while in 1834 another, owned and occupied by Shadrack Ashe, was licensed. The latter may have been for Independent Methodists or it could have been for Primitive Methodists. By the early 1860s there was no place for non-conformist wrship in the parish.
