Wesleyan Methodists, Alton Barnes

In 1822 a house occupied by James Powel was registered as a meeting place for Wesleyan Methodists. Another house, occupied by John Gale, a labourer, was registered in 1836; It is listed as ‘Great Alton’ and most probably referred to Alton Barnes and not Alton Priors.
