In 1824 the dwelling house of William Webb and the dwelling house in the possession of James dark, Baptist were licensed for meetings.
A Baptist chapel was built at Wingfield in 1896 to accommodate 150 people, being founded by a mission band from Emmanuel Church, Trowbridge. This was often referred to as a “village station” and various records have surveyed, including village preachers’ minute books, the trust deed of the chapel of 1896 and correspondence resulting in the sale of the property in 1983.
