The Wilsford Tithe Award and Kelly’s Directories indicate that there were two chapels in the 19th century and Kelly’s indicates that they were both Particular Baptist. A chapel stood at the south west corner of Wilsford Street in 1844 and the directories indicate that it dated from 1809, while a later directory still records two chapels in 1939. It seems likely that the Strict and Particular Baptists merged after the Second World War and used the Strict Baptist Chapel under their combined names.
