Methodist Chapel, Stert

A chapel was built in the village c.1869 and in Kelly’s Wiltshire Directory of 1875 a Methodist Chapel is listed for the village so presumably it was built by the Methodists. It is still listed as a Methodist Chapel in 1885 but in March 1887 was sold by Benoni Mullings of Devizes to the trustees of the New Baptist Chapel in Devizes as an out station of the Devizes church. Presumably the Methodist numbers had dwindled by the 1850s and could no longer support the chapel.
