Society of Friends, Malmesbury

Several Quaker families lived at Burton Hill between 1669 and 1750. In 1695 a house in Malmesbury parish, probably at Burton Hill, was certified as a meeting house. From 1827 to at least 1833 there was a Quaker Sunday school in Malemsbury but there is no record of a meeting in the town. In the later 19th and early 20th century there was no meeting in the town but one was started in 1986 by Arthur Minot. They met in a Church of England building at 22 Cross Hayes, but since early in 1999 have used the Moravian Hall for meetings.
