They first came to Devizes in 1881 in the Warehouse Barracks in Couch Lane. This was certified as a meeting place in 1887. By 1894 they had moved to Commercial Road and in 1898 they were in Monday Market Street. From 1900 they were using the former Methodist chapel in New Park Street. They left here in 1967 and eventually opened a centre in the former Civil Defence headquarters in Station Road in 1971. The Salvation Army Citadel in Station Road was closed and demolished and the Salvation Army does not officially operate in the town, although local Salvationist do meet together in the town. The nearest Corps are now located at Trowbridge and Chippenham.
