Methodist Chapel, Dews Road, Salisbury

There was a Methodist meeting at the Green Dragon in Fisherton c.1736-46 and houses were certified for worship in 1794 and 1810. In 1832 the Wesleyan Methodist chapel opened in Mill Road and in 1851 it was recorded that there were 250 seats. A new Methodist chapel opened in Fisherton Street in 1869 and the congregation moved there from Mill Road. This was used until 1917 when it was replaced by a new chapel in Dews Road. This new chapel could accommodate 450 people. In 1958 there was a membership of 89 and the minister was shared with the Wilton Road chapel. On 1st September the church, with that at Harnham and St. Edmund's Church Street united as Salisbury Methodist Church and in March 1987 they united on one site at St. Edmund's Church Street.
