Quakers, Purton

On 26th March 1705 a new house described as a Quaker meeting house was licensed for worship. The meeting may have included quakers from the meeting house licensed at Purton Stoke in 1690. Another certificate was issued on 13th June 1714 to John Hodges and Thomas Aveland. The only other record is a certificate issued on 27th February 1824 for a house in the occupancy of William Greenaway. Presumable a few local Quakers were then meeting at a private house.
