Independents, Amesbury

Various certificates for Independent meetings were issued but no chapel was built in Amesbury. In 1766 James Blatch set aside a house for meetings at Ratfyn while in 1776 the house of Adam Alldridge was certified. Two further houses were licensed; the house of George Harrison in 1795 and Little Amesbury House, occupied by Edmund George, at West Amesbury in 1815. The Blatch family were prominent in Independent circles and were also involved in meetings at Bulford and Durrington.
