This was the church of the Guild Merchant, the medieval organization of merchants and craftsmen in the town, in the 12th century. A list of priests appointed to the church exists from 1305 to 1465 and although the church was still in existence in 1527 it may only have been used as a meeting place for burgesses by that time. The church stood opposite the Guildhall in, or near, the Market Place but had gone by 1568.
