The original chapel was built in 1869, on land belonging to the Petty family, to serve the outlying area of Kingsdown that had no easy access to any church or chapel. Two Sunday services, from 3.00 - 4.00 p.m. and from 6.00 - 7.00 p.m., were provided. In 1926 the chapel was rebuilt as the United Methodist Chapel. It is now a private house.
