Primitive Methodist Chapel, Thickwood, Colerne

In 1836 the house of Henry Woodward of Thickwood was licensed for Primitive Methodist worship, doubtless the effect of the Brinkworth Circuit of Primitive Methodists. The congregation must have increased and prospered, for in 1860 a small chapel was built. The members included people from both Thickwood and Colerne although open air sevices were held in Colerne from 1867. During the 1880s there were two services each Sunday at Thickwood but the building of a chapel at Colerne in 1895 probably deprived the former of many of its congregation. The chapel was demolished in 1904.
