Mrs Turner, the founder of the Tabernacle Congregational Chapel in Trowbridge, moved to Tisbury and did not like the Presbyterian teaching in the Congregational chapel. She built another chapel for Congregational worship in 1782 and the Independents divided between the two chapels. By 1797 a Congregational form of government had been introduced into the original chapel and the two factions reunited. Mrs Turner sold her chapel, which was later used for business purposes.
