Methodists, Laverstock

Various houses were licensed for Methodist worship in the parish but the movement did not survive here. The houses were; 1794, the house of James Horder at Ford; 1795, the house of Elizabeth Ratey at Laverstock; 1818, the house of Samuel Whitlock (tenant Charles Percy) at Ford. In 1823 a field of 6 acres called Horse Pits, at Milford, was licensed for Independent Methodist worship and this was probably for open air meetings of the Camp Methodists or Primitive Methodists.
