Wesleyan Methodist Chapel, Hamptworth, Redlynch

This chapel was built in 1876 at the top of Lyburn Road in Hamptworth village. There was no burial ground attached. It could accommodate 80 people and in the early 20th century there was a Chapel Superintendent and visiting preachers. The preacher stayed in the village for the day and took two services - 11.00 a.m. to noon, and 6.00 to 7.00 p.m. There was also morning and afternoon Sunday School - 10.00 to 11.00 a.m. and 2.00 to 3.00 p.m. The Sunday School enjoyed an annual outing, often to the Rufus Stone in the New Forest. Services were still held here until 1973 but the chapel had closed by 1975.
