The church was built in 1843 for the Dowager Machioness of Bath as a chapel of ease to serve the people of Crockerton, who were some distance from the church at Longbridge Deverill. It was designed by Wyatt and Brandon in rubble stone and tiles, with Bath stone dressings. In c.1900 the building had to be strengthened and during the Second World War it did suffer some bomb damage. The church, which had high costs of maintenance and repair, closed in 1973 when the unified parish of the Deverills with Crockerton was created. It was converted into a studio house. The parish registers from 1843 to 1973 (baptisms) and 1843 to 1982 (burials) are kept in the Wiltshire & Swindon History Centre at Chippenham.
