Strict Baptist Chapel, Ludgershall

In 1806 a house was certified for Baptist and Independent worship, while in 1810 the same group certified a new building in Cox's, later Chapel, Lane. This was almost certainly the Baptist chapel, which had become Strict Baptist by 1851. At that time morning services attracted 60 people, the afternoon one 50 people and there was 60 in the congregation in the evening. The chapel was rebuilt in 1903 and was apparently still open in 1910 but had closed before 1915. It was in a ruinous state in 1920 and was later demolished. The 'bath' that was used for open air baptisms survived until 1960, being used as a garage inspection pit, and the graveyard on the north side of Chapel Lane survives.
