Salvation Army Hall, Ramsbury

Unusually for a rural area the Salvation Army took root in the village. An old barn, on the north side of the High Street, was used as a hall and 300 people could be accommodated in it. After 1883 they took another building in the High Street and maintained an active presence locally, with many parades and processions. They were generally well received in Ramsbury and continued here until the First World War. The Army was revived here in 1939 but had left the village by 1942.
