Castle Combe Primitive Methodist Mission

This began in 1829 and set up preaching places in local villages. There was much early persecution of the Primitive Methodists but they flourished and there were 41 places on their circuit in 1835. These were mainly villages but they reached as far as the Forest area of Melksham. The Circuit was later renamed the Chippenham Mission and became part of the Brinkworth Circuit.
