St Nicholas'; Church, Tytherton Lucas

The church was greatly restored in 1802 and the mid nineteenth century but is a thirteenth century Anglican Church with a Norman tub font and 12th century bell. The rubble stone masonry is original and there is a stone slate roof. It contains a three bay arcade of round chamfered arches, c.1300 but heavily restored. There are flat plastered ceilings and classical cornices inside with Georgian woodwork. A 13th century type window has a hood mould which is possibly original. The east window has glass by Mayer of Munich, c.1915. The church bell is long waisted, hung with a lever in a small open cot in the gable and probably dates from the 13th century, the oldest so far in the county. There is a smaller bell-cote on the west gable of the nave, once intended for the Sanctus bell.

Parish registers from 1813 (baptisms and burials)and 1839 (marriages), other than those in current use are held at the Wiltshire & Swindon History Centre at Chippenham.
