My great-grandfather was John Lyle Martin, head master between 1904 and 1931. (I have the engraved silver tea set that was presented to him by the school on his retirement, very precious to me.) I wonder if anyone has any photos of the school, staff or pupils taken during his time at the school please?

I joined Adcroft as a resident teacher in1965 and stayed until moving to a promotion in Sherborne. I taught maths. Although i taught for the rest of my working life I never found a better school both for achievement or atmosphere and comradeship. Now 88 I have been retired for 30 years. I have a school photo of the students and staff of 1965 and find it brings back many happy memories. Greetings to all. I will be happy to hear from any who were there between 1965 - 1969..

There was a driveway at the front of the school, I can remember the traditional school photo being taken there circa 1962.

I was at TBHS from 1951 to 1957 when Mr Bucknall presided, I agree there was just a hedge along the street line and a large lawn up to the schoo lbuilding. Everyyear there was a school photo takem on that lawn and I still have a copy

Like Paul Smith I was there from 1964 with him but then went on to-1973 because I went into 3rd Year Six to retake A Level. Reason was I wanted to be an Architect, which I am now, but [Mr J], the Art teacher at the time, was not good, shall I say, due to him going off on his committees rather than giving me homework etc. So failed Art A Level first time. Headmaster at the time asked me to go back for 3rd Year Six to retake it. I said no wanted to go to Trowbridge College to take Art and he said yes OK because quote him "Want you back for your sports". So went back to TBHS to retake Maths A Level in a year and Trowbridge College to take Art A level and got a First. Just goes to show if you have the right teacher you can get on. That was the only bad thing that happened to me at TBHS otherwise teachers were great including "Spud" and Rex and it was a fantastic school..

I attended this school when I was 5, but had to leave when I was 7, as our family relocated to Westbury Leigh. I remember it quite well.

I visited the school last year (July 2024) and whilst the old building was still there there had been significant new buildings added and the front door was borded up. I did manage to have a chat with both the Head and Deputy teachers which was good. I still have the student photo taken in 1952 when I was a second grader. I would like to know the names of the all the school houses at that time - I remember 'Forest' which was mine, and 'Gaunt' -what were the other two ?

This was our local church when we were born and lived in Whiterow Park, just next to the church. We were married there in 1958. We moved to New Zealand in `975 and on a visit back in 1984 we visited the church and were appalled by what we saw had been changed to the church with that awful extension, which doesn't match the original church at all. The inside had also been changed out of all recognition and didn't resemble the place we were married. Very upset to see "our" church like that. Janet & John Kelsey

I went there in the late 70's when the highly respected Mr Smith was the Head. That is one person I will never forget. And Mrs Short, Mr Daniels, Mrs Meineker? And the old boy Mr Vaughn. He must have been about 60 odd but looked like ninety as a young boy. From Victorian times. Marvelous classroom management skills. And there was a very big sports field at the time. It was a good school and have some pleasant memories. And some sad ones. I'll never forget JL. A lovely friend.
