As creator of this web site I thought I'd add a comment as well as writing and editing articles. I was a pupil here, when it was Trowbridge Boys' High School, between 1959 and 1966 and had my interest in history nurtured by Frank Bastian and John Broome. Well for the last 24 years I've been working with Wiltshire History and have been at the Wiltshire & Swindon History Centre since we opened in 2007. |

I attended Trowbridge Boys High School from 1961 to 1966. Can you remind me of the fourth House I was in Farleigh and I recall Gaunt and Forest. What was the Yellow House? It was Wraxall after South Wraxall manor house (MJM) |

I was at TBHS/THS between 1964-1971. I was in Farleigh House too - the yellow house was Brooke. Like Mike Marshman, I was taught by both the scholarly Frank Bastian and by John Broome and am indebted to both for teaching me history- (Mr. Llewellyn also taught history and I enjoyed his lessons too whilst in 3a). Attended 1964-8 approx. but a lazy student supported by good teachers and staying in contact with John Broome until his death. |

I was at TBHS 1963-64. Interesting ly I remember Mr Bastian very well. Didn't know his forename was Frank as everyone referred to him as Seb for obvious reasons. Bizarrely what I remember most that Steve Dunn always maintained he was the world's greatest authority on Daniel Defoe. True or not that has always stuck with me when I come across to a reference on him. |

Born in May 1935 I was at TBHS from 1946 to 1954. In January 1953 I passed the entrance exam in physics at Oxford, but delayed going until October 1954. I then remained at Oxford until 1963 in the Department of Physics, getting a doctorate in 1961. My DPhil supervisor was the famous Dr Kurt Mendelssohn, about whom I have just finished co-authoring a biography. This is being published by Springer on 1 December 2020. After Oxford I was an Assistant Professor at Grenoble University for 3 years, and then an Associate Professor of Physics for another 5 years before returning to Britain. Age 85 now. |
