My Gran Doris Spackman taught at this school in the 1910s to I guess 1923 when she married Edwin Tucker a injured soldier Of WW1 who was stationed nearby on farm duty. They married in Winterborne Monkton in 1923 then moved to Clyst St George in Devon, I wonder if they were the Mr and Mrs Tucker who awarded a prize in 1924. She visited Avebury in the 1980s and one of her ex pupils recognised her when they were at a tea shop. I have a photo of her with her class if it is possible to post it somewhere. |
