| Neston Primary School: The school was built in 1861 as Corshamside School and enlarged in 1885. The first Head Teacher in 1861 was Mr Weston followed in October 1875 by William Manning then from 3 Jan 1876 to 1898 it was George Bateman a very accomplished cyclist. From 2 May 1898 to 1926 Mr J.P. Inkpen was Head for 28 years before retiring to Australia. In the 1930s a 'Sunken Garden' and outhouses were built by pupils. In 1997 the building was enlarged. The school celebrated its 150th Birthday in the summer of 2011. In 2013, the school added two new classrooms, including an Early Years provision classroom with a free-flow playground, a new office for the Head Teacher and a large, spacious area for encouraging group learning. Since January 2012 Mrs Pam Evans has been the Head Teacher & Designated Safeguarding Lead. |
