I was evacuated to Erlestoke in early 1940 together with my sister Patricia and attended the school I also remember Mrs. Cook as the teacher. As far as I remember she was the only teacher as we were all in one room. My Aunt Mrs. Sartain and her husband owned the post office in the village where we stayed for a time. We also stayed with Mr. & Mrs. Perrett in the cottages opposite the post office for a short while. I remember they had two daughters one named Pearl. I also remember working on a farm at weekends somewhere along the lower road Marked on your photo. I just can't remember their name, but I remember they had a son who also had a farm next to his father's farm. I am 92 now (2022) so remembering names is a bit of a problem. |
