This church of stone and cut flint in the Decorated style was built by Isabella Mary Lear, in memory of her husband, Francis Lear, B.D., the Dean of Salisbury. It had been his wish to provide a church for this outlying district of the city. It was designed in 1854 by T.H. Wyatt and has a chancel, nave, south porch, vestry and a stone gable belfry, with one bell, at the western end. Lord Folkstone gave the land for the site. East Harnham was originally attached to Britford but in 1881 East and West Harnham were united under one vicar. Oak choir stalls were added in 1932 and the little church has received many other gifts in the last 150 years. The parish registers from 1855 (christenings) and 1854 (marriages and burials) , other than those in current use, are held in the Wiltshire and Swindon Record Office.
