Notes

The Particular Baptists built a chapel in Cricklade in 1852, but as there was no baptistry adult baptisms took place in the open air at Hatchett's ford on the river Thames, near Abingdon Court Farm. The congregation, with its own pastor flourished until the First World War but then declined. The chapel closed in 1937 and later housed the Cricklade Museum.
