Notes

In 1807 a house on the south east side of the High Street, the former Jockey Inn, was bought by the trustees of Rose's School and used as a school and schoolhouse for a grammar school. In 1833 there were between six and thirteen pupils of poor parents and six fee paying pupils. Between 1833 and 1858 this school merged with the main Rose's School.
