The school opened as Lady Georgina Herbert's Church of England School for Girls in 1838 in buildings inside Wilton Park. The school was founded by Lady Herbert to clothe and educate 35 poor girls. A certified mistress was paid £40 a year to teach between 30 and 40 girls and the school was maintained by subscription. In 1906 there was accommodation for 41 girls. The school closed between 1920 and 1923.
