Notes

This chapel, across the river at the foot of Bowden Hill, was opened in 1863 at a ceremony attended by 700 people, who afterwards took tea in the adjacent field. In the 20th century the congregation declined and in the 1970s the Methodists held their services in the United Reform Church in the village. Today (2003) the chapel is somewhat overgrown with trees and bushes.
