Notes

A meeting house for dissenters was licensed in Studley in 1798 while in 1826 a house occupied by James Godwin was certified for Wesleyan Methodist worship. The congregation increased and in 1855 they were able to build a small red brick chapel. They continued to prosper and with the aid of Charles Pavy, of Hazeland, built a stone schoolroom, attached to the chapel, in 1896. After the Methodist Union of 1832 the chapel became Studley Methodist Church, in which services are still held in 2004.
