The church of St. Mary was designed by C. F. Hansom in the Decorated style and was built in 1866 in stone at Gabriel Goldney’s expense. It has a nave, chancel and a north aisle. There is also a bell-cot in the west end of the nave. Carved stonework decorates its interior and the church’s carved font is reputed to have been exhibited at the 1862 Exhibition. The church is seen here from the north.
