In 1803 the house of Joseph Millard was licensed for Independent worship. A chapel was built to the north of the church in 1821 and was served from Malmesbury. A congregation of 200 was claimed in 1823 and on Census Sunday in 1851 there were 67 people at the morning service and 127 in the evening. The chapel, which by then was the newer one, pictured here in a very overgrown state, to the south of the church, had closed by 1921.
