There was no early Baptist congregation in the town and Warminster Baptists attended the early Baptist chapel at Crockerton. In 1810 a small group built the Ebenezer Chapel in what was then Meeting House Lane, later North Row. The congregation gradually increased and numbered 250 by 1829. A schoolroom was built in 1858. During the first quarter of the 20th century the chapel conducted 'missions' of up to 15 days duration in local villages. In 1976 a new minister, David Parker, had an evangelical approach which divided the congregation. His ministry ended in 1981 and he and a group of 60 followers split from the church and held meetings in Dewey House. This meeting ceased after a few years but the Baptist church continues.
