Notes

A Strict Baptist Congregation was established by 1829 and the new chapel of the Cave of Adullam built in 1838. The chapel prospered and the congregation increased; on Census Sunday in 1851 there was a attendance of 100. After this numbers declined slightly and the congregation was about 70 in 1864. In the late 19th century a new entrance was made at one end of the chapel. By 1939 the chapel was said to be Particular Baptist and there were 100 sittings. Weekly services were still being in 1972. In 2006 the chapel is being restored by the Friends of Upavon Chapel and prayer meetings are held in Upavon Village Hall.
