Notes

Independents were meeting in the parish from 1796; between then and 1803 five dwelling houses were certified for worship. A small gothic styled chapel was built in Newtown in 1821 for Independents but by 1851 it was used by a union of Independents and Baptists. Census Sunday in 1851 recorded an average attendance of 56 people. In 1910 the chapel served General Baptists only but then closed in 1929.
