Notes

There was a Congregationalist chapel, seating 100, built in 1810 by a Warminster minister. It was built, perhaps intentionally, just outside the village boundary. It is possible that there were problems with the continuity of ministers and from 1854 the congregation had links with East Knoyle which lasted over a century (except 1961-3 when it was linked with Tisbury instead). The chapel was sold in 1972 following a decline in membership and became a private house.
