Grew out of a Technical Day School, from 1891, and a new school was built in Cocklebury Road in 1899. Moved to a purpose built school at Hardenhuish, pictured here, in 1939. It 1966 it integrated with the secondary modern school in a semi-comprehensive system with all 11 to 13 year old boys and girls being educated on the grammar school site.
