Could you tell me the exact location of Brimble Hill, which I have been told is a spur of Cold Kitchen Hill near Kingston Deverill.

Answer
Brimble Hill in the parish of Maiden Bradley, just to the east of Bradley Park, and is indicated on large scale Ordnance Survey maps of 1901 and 1973 (ST810384). There are maps from the 1880s and 1773 that indicate the hill but do not name it. That of 1773, before the adoption of contour lines gives a good indication of the hill, which is over 600 feet high.

Brimble Hill was called Bremelhil brech in 1407 and the meaning seems to be Bramble Hill. Incidentally there is another Brimble Hill in Wroughton parish.
