Stanley Abbey was situated three miles north west of Calne in the modern civil parish of Bremhill, NGR ST9572. There is a history of the abbey in,
The Victoria History of Wiltshire, Vol. 3, pages 269-75, 1959.
Archaeologia, Vol. 60, pages 493-516, 1907
You will also find information on the following web sites,
http://cistercians.shef.ac/abbeys/stanley.php
www.tudorplace.com.ar/Bios/edwardbayntun1.htm
www.nra.nationalarchives.gov.uk/nra/searches/sidocs.asp?SIR=073361
If you look at the Community History pages for Chippenham, apart from the historical sketch I wrote of the town, you will find a select booklist of items. You will be able to request many of these through your local library. Material on Monkton Park will be found in the Archives at Wiltshire and Swindon History Centre in Chippenham, but a visit would be needed to view this.
